Operate Patterns

Example prompts for campaigns, maintenance, and ongoing operations

These patterns show how to ask for operational tasks — running campaigns, maintaining data, and managing ongoing processes.

Campaign Execution

Re-engagement:

Create a re-engagement campaign for customers who haven't purchased
in 90 days. Offer a 20% discount and personalize based on their
last purchase category.

Win-back:

Build a win-back campaign for churned customers. Segment by reason
for leaving (if known) and customize messaging accordingly.

Upsell:

Create an upsell campaign targeting customers who've purchased
our starter product. Highlight the benefits of upgrading to pro.

Seasonal:

Set up our Black Friday campaign. Target active customers with
a VIP early access offer, then open to general list on Friday.

A/B Testing

Subject lines:

A/B test subject lines for our newsletter. Test a question-based
subject against a benefit-focused one. Run for one week and
implement the winner.

Send times:

Test sending our weekly digest on Tuesday vs Thursday. Track
open rates and clicks for 4 weeks.

Content:

A/B test our welcome email. Version A has a discount, Version B
has educational content. Which drives more first purchases?

Data Maintenance

Duplicate cleanup:

Find and merge duplicate contacts in my org. Match on email
address first, then name + company as a secondary match.

Data enrichment:

Identify contacts missing job titles. Flag them for manual
enrichment or mark as low priority.

List hygiene:

Clean up our email list. Remove hard bounces, identify inactive
subscribers (no engagement in 180 days), and segment for
re-engagement or removal.

Field updates:

Bulk update all contacts with @oldcompany.com email addresses
to @newcompany.com — they rebranded.

For bulk data operations, always ask the agent to show you a preview before making changes.

Reporting and Monitoring

Weekly reports:

Set up a weekly email performance report that sends to the
marketing team every Monday. Include opens, clicks, conversions,
and comparison to previous week.

Pipeline alerts:

Create an alert that notifies sales managers when a deal over
$50k hasn't had activity in 14 days.

Health monitoring:

Set up monitoring for our Marketing Cloud automations. Alert me
when any automation fails or hasn't run on schedule.

Executive dashboard:

Build a monthly executive dashboard showing revenue attribution,
customer acquisition cost, and lifetime value trends.

Segmentation

Behavioral:

Create a segment of customers who've viewed our pricing page
3+ times but haven't started a trial.

RFM:

Build segments based on recency, frequency, and monetary value.
Create 5 tiers from VIP to at-risk.

Engagement:

Segment our email list by engagement level: highly engaged
(opens everything), moderate (opens sometimes), and cold
(hasn't opened in 60+ days).

Lifecycle:

Create lifecycle segments: new customers (0-30 days), growing
(30-90 days), established (90+ days with multiple purchases),
at-risk (no activity in 60 days).

Content Operations

Template updates:

Update all our email templates to use the new footer with
updated legal copy.

Asset organization:

Organize our Content Builder assets into folders by campaign
type: newsletters, promotions, transactional, and lifecycle.

Content calendar:

Create a content calendar for Q1. Plan one newsletter per week,
two promotional campaigns, and the quarterly product update.

Integration Management

Sync verification:

Verify that our Sales Cloud to Marketing Cloud sync is working
correctly. Check for records that didn't sync and identify why.

Error resolution:

Review errors from yesterday's data import. Tell me what failed
and why, then fix what can be fixed automatically.

Connection testing:

Test all our Data Cloud connections. Are they still authenticated?
When did they last sync successfully?

Automation Management

Pause and resume:

Pause all promotional automations for the holiday period
(Dec 24-26). Resume on Dec 27.

Schedule adjustments:

Move our weekly newsletter send from Tuesday at 9am to
Wednesday at 10am, starting next week.

Cleanup:

Identify automations that haven't run successfully in 30 days.
Create a list for review with last run date and error status.

How to Ask for Operations

Be specific about timing:

Send the campaign at 10am EST next Tuesday, not just "next week"

Include safety checks:

Show me a preview of who will receive this before sending

Request confirmation:

After running the data cleanup, give me a summary of what changed

Set up monitoring:

Alert me if this campaign's unsubscribe rate exceeds 1%
